Teddies and AKC Shows
Currently the Teddy Roosevelt Terrier is in FSS Accepted status. This means that these dogs can be shown in any of the Companion Events: Agility, Obedience, Rally Obedience, and Tracking. Our Performance sport is Earthdog. In these events owners and their dogs are eligible to earn titles.

FSS Open Shows are available to us for conformation. These shows are listed on the AKC website as well as on the premium list for clubs offering the class. They take place after a minimum of 30 minutes after the conclusion of Best In Show. No points from AKC are awarded for this class, however as a breed AKC notes how many Teddy Roosevelt are actively showing, so it is important to us in this way.

ATRTC continues to work diligently to meet the AKC requirements to be approved for the Miscellaneous class. This class is the 2nd step toward AKC full recognition. The Miscellaneous classes are held during normal show hours along side the recognized breeds. It is not a point giving class also, but our visibility to the other breeders, handlers, judges and the public increases expeditiously. When our breed receives approval to show in Miscellaneous notice will be posted on our website.

Our final hurdle in achieving full recognition for Teddies in AKC will enable people to show their Teddies in the regular conformation classes and earn AKC points and titles. The population of Teddy owners is small, but ATRTC will be working diligently to bring the breed to full recognition.
